Scotland 44-38 Samoa match report: Scots get Autumn tests opening win

Scotland kicked off their Autumn test matches with a nervy but exciting six-point win over plucky Samoa in front of a soldout crowd at Murrayfield.

Tries from full-back Stuart Hogg and centre Huw Jones, plus a pushover brace from Stuart McInally put the Scots in control.

But Samoa scored four second-half tries, adding to Josh Tyrell’s earlier effort, to keep in touch.

Ofisa Treviranus’ opportunistic touchdown set up a nervy final two minutes for Scotland, but Gregor Townsend’s men held on for the victory.
