Scotland add two to their squad after three players ruled out

Scotland have called up Harlequins back James Lang to their autumn Test squad as a replacement for injured Glasgow centre Sam Johnson.

Uncapped Johnson suffered a knee injury in Glasgow’s Pro14 defeat at Munster on Saturday, while Edinburgh centre Matt Scott is suffering from concussion.

Scotland have also been hit by injuries to back-row trio David Denton, Magnus Bradbury and Luke Crosbie.

Denton is still suffering with a head knock sustained on 6 October.

Gregor Townsend’s side will face their NatWest 6 Nations rivals in Cardiff on Saturday November 3 and contest the ‘Doddie Weir Cup’, as both teams honour the former Scotland and British & Irish Lions player who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and support his inspiring work to raise funds for MND research.

The Wales game will provide test-level build-up for the Scot’s own 2018 Autumn Tests at BT Murrayfield, with capacity crowds confirmed for the opening Test against Fiji (Saturday 10 November) and South Africa (17 November) with the Argentina crowd close behind.
