Fullback: Stuart Hogg – 8/10
Took just 90 seconds to kick off the hosts try-scoring after collecting Tommy Seymour’s knock through. Looked visibly fitter since giving up the Guinness, and has now scored a record-equalling 17 tries for Scotland.
“90 seconds gone, perfect start to the Townsend era!”

Wing: Tommy Seymour – 7/10
The Lions winger wasn’t at his best but provided a great kick for Hogg’s opening score. Also relished the physical challenge posed by the Samoans.
Centre: Huw Jones – 8/10
The centre used his power and speed to score a delightful try after 34 minutes as he continues to enhance his fast-growing reputation. Good to see him back from injury.

Centre: Alex Dunbar – 6.5/10
Used his bulk to power over for the Scots’ fifth try and was effective in his usual role as defensive leader.

Winger: Lee Jones – 6/10
The 29-year-old has worked hard to get himself back into the Scotland reckoning and made a few nice breaks, and offloads without being spectacular.
