Scotland powerhouse set for huge six-figure payday in Premiership

Worcester Warriors have reportedly offered newly capped Scotland international Duhan van der Merwe a huge £300,000 per season to move to Sixways.

The South African-born winger, who only made his debut for his adopted country during the Autumn, has agreed to make the shock move next summer, according to The Rugby Paper.

A hulking strike runner, van der Merwe was part of the South Africa squad that finished runners-up at the 2014 Junior World Championship alongside now World champions Handre Pollard and Jesse Kriel.

He has averaged a try every other game for Edinburgh and was named PRO14 Players’ Player of the Season for the 2019/20 campaign.

The 25-year-old made a try-scoring Scotland debut in the home win against Georgia in October 2020 and has scored in both Florence and Dublin in the four caps since.
