Scotland and Edinburgh hooker Ross Ford has been ruled out for four months with a pectoral injury.
Ford was hurt in training last week and a scan at Spire Murrayfield Hospital revealed the 33-year-old will need surgery that will rule him out until the run-up to the Six Nations.
Head Coach Gregor Townsend has also added three Edinburgh Rugby forwards to the Scotland squad for the 2017 Autumn Tests.
