Sergio Parisse makes shock move after leaving Stade Francais

Italian captain Sergio Parisse has signed a one-year contract with Toulon following his exit from Stade Francais, the Top 14 side confirmed on Monday.

Parisse called time on his Stade Francais career on Friday after almost 15 years at the club after a reported falling out with South African coach Heyneke Meyer.

The 35-year-old has made 258 appearances for the Top 14 side, scoring 238 points and will be looking to add to his 138 Italian caps when he captains his country at the upcoming World Cup.

“Undisputed leader on the field and in the locker room, Sergio Parisse is determined to finish his career at the highest level,” Toulon said in a statement.

Toulon have fallen on hard times in recent seasons, but along with Parisse will welcome Nehe Milner-Skudder and Eben Etzebeth next season as they look to return to former glory.
