Team News | England star misses training ahead of World Cup opener

England prop Joe Marler missed England’s last training session before head coach Eddie Jones confirms his XV to face Tonga in their World Cup opener on Sunday.

However, according to the Mail Online, it is unclear whether he is in doubt for the match.

There has been no suggestion that the 29-year-old Harlequins prop has an injury and the official RFU explanation was that his training load is merely being managed.

He was absent as the Red Rose squad were put through rigorous fitness drills – and instead trained with recovering Jack Nowell and Mako Vunipola.

Following Sunday’s opener, England will face USA on Thursday 26 September (KO 11:45 BST), Argentina on Saturday 5 October (KO 09:00 BST) and finally France – Saturday 12 October (KO 09:15 BST).
