Wilkinson is no stranger to France, having guided Toulon to back to back European Cup titles.
Despite reports that Lyon were set to offer Wilkinson a deal that would have made him one of the league’s top earners, the former Toulon out-half has reportedly ‘politely refused’ the offer.
The French club nevertheless could come back with an even larger offer in the coming days.
