The new unexpected business set up by Jamie Roberts

Wales and Lions legend Jamie Roberts, along with his partner Nicole Ramson and neighbour Sharron Jefferson, have started up a luxury deckchair hire business.

Their start-up company “Cheeks on Seats” allows tourists from across the world to view one of the most stunning examples of Georgian architecture in the country from the comfort of a top-of-the-range deckchair.

Roberts told the Bath Chronicle: “It was my neighbour Sharron Jefferson’s idea originally. Lots of people, including tourists and students, come to the lawn every day to look at the Royal Crescent but she noticed they usually end up sitting on the grass.

“That’s where the idea of luxury deckchairs came from. We started earlier this year and over the Easter weekend, when the weather was really good, we absolutely killed it. We were very busy.

“The Royal Crescent is an amazing part of the city and this is a great, simple way for people to relax and enjoy it.

“This is just a cool little start-up business.

“It’s a very simple idea. It’s been going well so far and we’re hoping for a long, hot summer.”

Jamie’s partner Nicole looked after the branding and marketing side of the start-up.

Deckchair hire costs £2 per hour or £10 per day. Students can hire one for £1 an hour.
