The real reason Billy Vunipola and Danny Care were snubbed by England head coach

In-form Saracens back-rower Billy Vunipola looked in line for a place in England’s summer squad, but was unceremoniously snubbed by Eddie Jones once again ahead of the tour.

Jones has opted to go with a vary of experience and youth in his squad, but there was one or two omissions which raised a few eyebrows.

His brother Mako was recalled to the squad with the Sarries prop revealing that his brother needs to do more than just play well in order to earn a recall.

“The messages are clear. The coaches have given us things to work on,” said Mako.

“For him (Billy) he’s missed out this time but all he can do is play well for the club and I think he’s done that for the most part.”

Here, RUCK looks at 5 players who have been somewhat unfairly exiled by the Aussie

#1. Billy Vunipola

Reports suggest thatJones won’t be calling upon the Saracens powerhouse anymore after running out of patience with his number of injuries and negative attitude around the camp.

The Aussie denied that his omission is down to age, insisting Vunipola ‘needed to find a better version of himself’ with Jones simply looking for more ‘enthusiasm’ from his current squad.

The 29-year-old, born in Sydney in 1992, would be free to play for the Aussies when he completes his three-years stand down from international rugby in March 2024.

Vunipola has been exiled from the England setup since the disappointing 2021 Six Nations as Eddie Jones’s patience with the ‘difficult’ back-rower finally ran out.
