REVEALED | The rugby star who got Katie Hopkins banned from Twitter

Dragons winger Ashton Hewitt has revealed that his complaint led to Katie Hopkins being permanently removed from Twitter.

The half Welsh, half Jamaican speedster has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, which led to him clashing with the controversial ‘journalist’.

A statement from Twitter said: “Keeping Twitter safe is a top priority for us – abuse and hateful conduct have no place on our service and we will continue to take action when our rules are broken.”

The Hateful conduct policy, which is stated on Twitter’s Help Centre states: “You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.

“We also do not allow accounts whose primary purpose is inciting harm towards others on the basis of these categories.”

Hewitt – one of the most exciting talents in Welsh rugby – committed his future to Dragons by signing a new contract at the region in the summer of 2019.

He is one of the most potent finishers in Welsh rugby with his electric pace and powerful running.
