5. Elliot Daly

They wrote: “A classic outside centre who has the pace for an outside break and excellent footballing skills. Can also play full back and wing, and can kick goals with his left foot from long range.”

Where he is now: The 28-year-old is now a mainstay of England squads, winning 52 caps since making his debut during the 2016 Six Nations. He played key roles in their back-to-back Six Nations titles before going onto play in all three tests as they drew their series with the All Blacks in 2017. Interestingly only won four of his caps at centre, playing the majority on the wing and fullback.


6. Josh Beaumont

 They wrote: “Thanks to his father, Bill, he possesses the pedigree and requisite frame whether employed in the second row or at No 8. The Sale Shark has appeared in an uncapped fixture against the Barbarians and next step would seem a matter of time.”

Where he is now: Every time he gets the call from Jones he seems to suffer an injury, missing the 2016 Six Nations and the 2016 summer tour of Australia due to various knocks. He’s simply never had a good enough run of games to force his way back into contention since.
