A number of players are gunning to play for Eddie Jones’ refreshed England team during the Autumn Nations Series.
Plenty of players have made a solid first impression so far this weekend, putting their hand up for selection – but that certainly wasn’t the case for. everyone on the opening weekend.
In a new weekly feature, we’ll highlight three players whose stellar performances impress, and three who do anything but.
With Newcastle and Harlequins still to play, we make our picks for the five games so far this weekend below.
#3. Harry Thacker (Bristol Bears)
Bristol Live: “It is great to see the red scrum cap of Harry Thacker back bursting through gaps at Ashton Gate after missing most of last season through injury as he recovered from surgery on his neck. The hooker broke the line on a couple of occasions to make 45m in attack, the second-highest total of any player on the pitch.”
#2. Freddie Steward (Leicester Tigers)
Leicester Mercury: The talented full-back picked up where he left off last season with a superb opening-day display. He started with an assured highball then went on to be the focal point of everything Tigers did well on an opening day to remember.”
