Toulon captain Mathieu Bastareaud appeared this Wednesday before a disciplinary hearing of the National League of Rugby following the red card received at the meeting RCT / Castres for his shocking forearm smash on Christophe Samson.
It was decided the France international; will be banned for 5 weeks and will return to action for the Edinburgh / RCT European Cup match on Saturday 20th October.
He will, therefore, be available for France’s Autumn Internationals in November.
Hot-headed Bastareaud sees red!

Andy Goode clearly wasn’t pleased with the decision…
So @FFRugby captain Mathieu Bastareaud has been handed a 5 week ban by @LNRofficiel for brutally forearm smashing a player in the head while they were lying prone & defenceless on the deck! When do France’s Autumn internationals start?! In 7 weeks so the 5 week ban seems legit 👀
