TRANSFER | Gloucester sign pair of locks

Lock: ROY “DIGGER” MORRIS

Roy “Digger” Morris was a lock forward with a hard uncompromising reputation in the Kingsholm tradition. He made 311 appearances for the club between 1932 and 1948, and captained Gloucester and Gloucestershire in 1946-47.


Lock: STEVE BOYLE

A powerful lock, Steve Boyle made 312 appearances for Gloucester and scored an impressive 77 tries, helping them win the national cup in 1978 and 1982.

He also made six appearances for the British and Irish Lions on their 1983 tour to New Zealand but was unable to break into the Test side.Embed from Getty Images


Flanker: JAKE BOER

It took him no time at all to become a cult figure at Gloucester, his battling, die-hard qualities immediately striking a chord with the Shed. Having become a first team regular Boer scored Gloucester’s only try in their 28-22 2001-2002 Zurich Premiership Final victory over local rivals Bristol at Twickenham.Embed from Getty Images


Flanker: TOM VOYCE 

Known as ‘The King of Gloucester’, flanker Voyce enjoyed an outstanding tour to South Africa with the British & Irish Lions in 1924 as he scored six tries in 12 games.

Voyce made 171 appearances for the Cherry and Whites, scoring 55 tries and kicking 14 conversions, six penalties and two dropped goals for a total of 219 points.


Number 8: MIKE TEAGUE

Teague is a Gloucester legend, helping them win the John Player Cup in 1982 and John Smith’s Merit Table in 1985-86, making 301 appearances for the club during a stellar career.

On the international stage, he won 27 England caps, playing eight times as a number 8 while also making 14 appearances for the British & Irish Lions.
