TRANSFER | Leicester Tigers sign emergency back on loan

Leicester Tigers have welcomed outside-back David Williams to the club on loan from Nottingham Rugby.

Williams, a Tigers Academy graduate, represented the club in the ‘A’ League and Premiership Rugby Sevens before spending a season in the Welsh Premiership with Ebbw Vale in 2015.

The Leicester local joined Nottingham in 2016 and has scored more than 25 tries in more than 50 appearances for the Championship club.

Williams studies Business Management and Economics at Nottingham Trent University and was selected in the BUCS Super Rugby Team of the Year at the conclusion of the 2018/19 season, before touring France with England Students.

Following the 2019/20 Championship season, Williams was nominated as one of four players for the Wing of the Year in the Greene King IPA Championship Team of the Year.

The Australia and Waratahs full-back avoided punishment for saying homosexuals should go to “hell”unless they “repent their sins and turn to God”.

This sort of backwards thinking doesn’t belong in rugby!
