Transfer News: Clubs pull out as Leigh Halfpenny continues to search for a new club

British & Irish Lions fullback Leigh Halfpenny chances of returning to Welsh rugby looks unlikely, with all four Regions cold on the idea.

With all four Regions thought to be braced for losses of approximately £1m each in the coming year, money is tight.

His former club Cardiff Blues are now not interested in any possible second spell for the player at the Arms Park as their wage bill in excess of £5m for next season.

Ospreys also have no interested as Dan Evans, Sam Davies and James Hook are already on board as full-backs.

Meanwhile the Scarlets – for a while said to be Halfpenny’s likeliest destination were he to return – are also believed to be unwilling to commit the cash needed to sign the Lions fullback.

Bath, therefore, remain the favourite to sign Halfpenny while there is still significant interest from Japan.
