Transfer Rumours: Bristol confirm they’re in talks to sign young second-row

Bristol Bears remain on the hunt for new players ahead of their return to the Premiership.

Talking on BBC Radio Bristol tonight the club’s chief operating officer Mark Tainton: said: “Looking at the second row we are talking to a young individual who is very interested in signing for us.”

Tainton revealed the club still have some allowance left in their salary cap, but said it was for emergencies, further suggesting the bulk of the recruitment is complete.

Bristol have already announced the signing of 18 news players for the 2018/19 season, bringing in: Charles Piutau (utility back, Ulster), John Afoa (prop, Gloucester), Harry Randall (scrum half, Gloucester), Shaun Malton (hooker, Exeter Chiefs), Harry Thacker (hooker, Leicester Tigers), Yann Thomas (prop, Stade Rouennais), Aly Muldowney (lock, Grenoble), Tiff Eden (fly half, Nottingham), Jake Heenan (flanker, Connacht), Jordan Lay (prop, Edinburgh), Jake Woolmore (prop, Jersey Reds), Jake Armstrong (prop, Jersey Reds), Tom Pincus (winger, Jersey Reds), Tom Lindsay (hooker, Bedford Blues), Lewis Thiede (prop, Ealing Trailfinders), Luke Daniels (full back, Ealing Trailfinders) and Piers O’Conor (centre, Ealing Trailfinders).

They will compete in the Gallagher Premiership as Bristol Bears as announced yesterday.
