Clermont scrum-half Greig Laidlaw will leave Clermont at the end of 2019/20 Top 14 season according to reports.
A story featured in Midi Olympique, the leading sports newspaper in France, suggests the future of the Scotland playmaker has already been established, with the decision being he will not be at Clermont next season.
Laidlaw, who turns 34 in October, will reportedly still have plenty of interest in his services and RUCK sources tell us he has little interest in retiring just yet.
It’s thought he favours a return to Edinburgh where he began his career, making 137 appearances and scoring 598 points in a seven-year stint in the Scottish capital between 2007 and 2014.
However, there is also interest from Bath, who would be keen to bring in the experienced scrum-half on a one or two year deal.
Meanwhile, Newcastle Falcons would be interested, but only once they have secured promotion back to the Gallagher Premiership.
