Newcastle and England forward Mark Wilson has been linked to many clubs throughout the summer, but we understand he is now nearing a move away from Kingston Park.
It’s been reported by RugbyPass that it is now a two-club race between Sale Sharks and Harlequins to land the blindside flanker on either a season-long loan or short-term deal.
Either way, the 29-year-old would almost certainly return to the Falcons if they are promoted back the Premiership at the first time of asking.
Other clubs who were interested but have seemingly fallen out of the running are Leicester Tigers and London Irish.
Wilson was recently announced in both of Eddie Jones’ two initial training camps for the Rugby World Cup and is odds-on to be in the squad in September.
