TRANSFER | Wasps sign powerhouse lock for next season

Wasps have completed the signing of lock Myles Edwards from Oyonnax.

The 24-year-old was born in Handsworth and attended Fairfax School in Sutton Coldfield.

A late starter, he only began playing rugby at the age of twelve. Five years later, he joined the Worcester Warriors development programme, combining rugby with studying at Worcester Sixth Form College.

After a year at Sixways, he moved to Top 14 side La Rochelle, where he spent a season. That was followed by two seasons with ProD2 Aurillac, before he joined Oyonnax, another ProD2 outfit, at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

By the time coronavirus brought the French season to a premature end, he had made 10 first team appearances.

1. D.T.H van der Merwe

Glasgow Warriors’ record try-scorer is to leave the club at the end of the current season. The 34-year-old has scored 54 tries in 123 appearances for the club over eight seasons.

If Wasps could sign the Canada international, who has already confirmed ‘he’d like to play on for a few more years’, he’d certainly guarantee tries.
