Wales fullback Liam Williams could be heading to the Aviva Premiership, with Saracens leading the chase for the Scarlets star’s signature.

The 25-year-old, dubbed the future of Welsh rugby, has developed into one of the best full-backs in Europe – especially under the high ball – and his fine form ensured Wales did not miss Leigh Halfpenny too much during his recent injury-enforced absence.

Having seen the likes of George North, Taulupe Faletau, Jamie Roberts, Luke Charteris and Rhys Priestland take up big-money offers in England, Williams, whose girlfriend lives in London, is reportedly contemplating doing likewise, with clubs willing to pay £300,000 a year for his services.

Scarlets want Williams to stay, but he is delaying signing a new deal and the suspicion was that rival Welsh region Ospreys were planning a move when his contract runs out next year.

A well-placed source told Wales Online: “Half the Aviva Premiership is interested in Liam Williams. He has a lot of admirers there.”
