WATCH | Rugby star’s try goes viral after Mo Salah comparisons

Salford Red Devils winger Rhys Williams talks about becoming a viral sensation and comparisons to footballer Mohamed Salah, after his try against Toronto Wolfpack went “global”.

That included a cheeky tweet from rival code bosses World Rugby suggesting he could feature in their 2023 World Cup.

The try has now been watched more than five million times!

“I’m a United fan so I’m not a fan of Mo Salah,” joked Williams. “I’m not a bad footballer, but United all the way.”

The try itself saw Williams field a Toronto kick-off inside his own 20-metre line, throw a big dummy and then sprint around Wolfpack full-back Gary Wheeler to score.
