Wednesday is D-Day for Dylan Hartley

  • Dylan Hartley will find out on Wednesday how long he will be banned for
  • The England captain could miss the beginning of the 2017 Six Nations
  • The 30-year-old was dismissed six minutes after coming on as Northampton lost to Leinster
Dylan Hartley’s Six Nations fate will be known on Wednesday when he appears before an independent hearing for a stiff-arm tackle on Sean O’Brien.

The England captain was sent off in Northampton’s Champions Cup defeat to Leinster and now face the risk of receiving a lengthy ban, which could rule him out of the Six Nations and cost him the England captaincy.

O’Brien failed a head injury assessment after being struck from behind by the blow from England’s captain, who had only been on the pitch for six minutes as a second-half replacement.

No details of the charge against Hartley has been made public, but a ban of eight weeks or more would rule him out of the start of the Six Nations.
