A bidding war has erupted for Kiwi teenage sprint sensation Edward Osei-Nketia, with at least two Australian sports organisations presenting six-figure offers to poach the 17-year-old from New Zealand.
He weighs in at 95 kg and runs 100 meters in 10 “19, making him the fastest rugby player ever seen in New Zealand schools.
He is a rugby try scoring machine on the wing for his school, and the Hurricanes are reported to be interested.
But the Wallabies are hoping to lure him to play rugby there with a big opening offer.
On athletics v rugby, Osei-Nketia is “weighing” both and will make a decision after leaving school.
“It would be hard to try for the Olympics and also train for rugby,” he said.
