Dai Young ‘steps down’ for an interim period

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young is to step back from first-team duties for an interim period, say the Coventry-based Premiership club.

A senior management meeting was called at the Ricoh Arena this morning followed by the players being told shortly afterwards at the club’s Broadstreet RFC training ground base.

According to CoventryLive, the Welsh coach has not had his contract terminated and the reshuffle comes with the intentions of being only on an interim basis.

Lee Blackett who is part of his backroom team, will step up to become interim head coach.

The 37-year-old has been with Wasps since arriving from Rotherham Titans as backs coach in 2015.

Wasps are currently ninth in the Premiership table after nine games.
