Rugby is a sport where power, technique, and sheer physical presence can make all the difference. Over the years, several players have taken size to new extremes — but few as dramatically as Ben Tameifuna.

When Tameifuna returned to Racing 92 after the 2019 Rugby World Cup, reports placed his weight at a massive 166kg, roughly 26 stone. Faced with a clear directive from club management to slim down or move on, he chose to overhaul his physique.
Speaking to RugbyPass in September 2020, Tameifuna revealed:
“I’m down to 146kg today, which is pretty much what I was when I came to France my first season.”
His progress didn’t stop there. He has since dropped an additional 2kg, bringing him to 144kg — a significant transformation for the powerhouse prop.
