Owen Farrell appeared on the big screen and the crowd let him have it — loud boos echoing around the stadium. Even his England teammate Will Stuart couldn’t resist, joining in with a bit of pantomime booing for a laugh.
Then, right on cue, Dan Biggar — who’s been openly critical of Farrell’s Lions call-up — chipped in with a typically sharp dig:
RUCK’s Lions content is powered by ISUZU.
"Maybe he should have just stayed at the hotel," he said.
Fans lit up social media with mixed reactions:
"Biggar is clearly not keen on Owen Farrell’s call up"
"Dan Biggar clearly has a chip in his shoulder about Owen Farrell getting a call up for the Lions. Constantly slating him, and has chosen not to be diplomatic about how he could benefit the squad"
"Dan Biggar is to punditry .....what Boris Johnson is to the truth !? His criticism of Owen Farrell is laughable!?"
"Panto booing from Will Stuart when Owen Farrell is singled out by the television cameras. It's just good stuff."
Farrell can’t seem to avoid the spotlight — or the stick that comes with it, but he looks completely unbothered. .
