2015 Rugby World Cup–winning All Black joins Pro D2 club

Fekitoa, who now represents Tonga internationally and has earned 13 caps for the Pacific nation, brings a wealth of top-level experience to Béziers. The 33-year-old has featured ten times in all competitions this season, scoring three tries, but will not be retained by Italian side Benetton Treviso when his contract expires in June.

Béziers have endured a challenging season, collecting eight wins and 34 points from 20 matches. The arrival of a player of Fekitoa’s pedigree signals clear intent from the club to climb away from the lower reaches of the standings and stabilise their Pro D2 status.

Fekitoa’s career has spanned some of rugby’s most competitive environments. After debuting for Auckland in New Zealand’s ITM Cup in 2012, he earned a Super Rugby opportunity with the Blues before becoming a key figure for the Highlanders. He played a pivotal role in their 2015 Super Rugby title-winning campaign, the same year he lifted the Rugby World Cup with New Zealand.

In 2017, Fekitoa moved to Europe, signing with RC Toulon in the Top 14, where he played from 2017 to 2019. He later joined Wasps in England’s Premiership before switching to Munster in 2022. Despite helping Munster claim the United Rugby Championship title in 2023, he departed at the end of that season and subsequently signed a three-year deal with Benetton.

Internationally, Fekitoa made 24 appearances for the All Blacks between 2014 and 2017, scoring crucial tries and featuring in the victorious 2015 World Cup squad. After World Rugby amended its eligibility rules, he switched allegiance to Tonga in 2022 and represented them at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
