Centre Chris Harris is leaving Newcastle Falcons after exercising a relegation release clause.
The 28-year-old Scotland centre signed a two-year contract extension in February, but will now depart the club for Gloucester.
Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Chris has been a great servant who has steadily improved during his time at Newcastle Falcons, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
"I've loved every minute of my time with the Falcons," Harris said.
"I will be forever grateful to them. However, I'm at the stage of my career where I need to be performing at the highest level of the club game."
