"Disaster" - Every home nations BEST and WORST player this weekend

We’ve decided to give everybody a little review of the summer internationals by deciding who has been each home nations best and worst player this weekend.
It proved to be a disastrous start for the Northern Hemisphere sides as all four lost to their Southern foes.
RESULTS:
- New Zealand 42-19 Ireland
- Australia 30-28 England
- South Africa 32-29 Wales
- Argentina 26-18 Scotland
Home nations best and worst players
IRELAND:
#BEST PLAYER: Peter O'Mahony
RTE 7/10: "Was outstanding in the opening quarter and never gave up in a tough environment, best of the back row."
Independent 6/10: "The warrior did what he could to keep Ireland functioning and there were some trademark incursions but as it went on, he just became increasingly frustrated with Kark Dickson."
#WORST PLAYER: Tadhg Furlong
RTE 5/10: "Ireland needed a big game from their world-class tighthead but he looked off the pace."
Independent 5/10: "Quiet enough round the park which would suggest that the less than stable scrums were tough."
Rugby Pass 4/10: "Virtually no impact around the field and twisted into all sorts of positions by Bower at the scrum."
ENGLAND:
#BEST PLAYER: Tom Curry
Telegraph 9/10: "Curry was a man possessed. Tackles, turnovers, breaks and a miss pass before coming off at half time due to a failed HIA. Remarkable 40 minutes. England missed him after the break. "
#WORST PLAYER: Maro Itoje
Telegraph 5/10: "Told off for shouting at the line-out as enhanced his reputation as rugby’s biggest nuisance. Uncharacteristically quiet and frankly looked a little tired."
Rugby Pass 6/10: "Not at his best, but battled hard. A couple of great defensive interventions, but still concedes too many avoidable penalties."
WALES:
#BEST PLAYER: Louis Rees-Zammit.
Wales Online 8/10: "Give this man an inch and he’ll take an entire motorway. Coasted over for a superbly taken first try and more alert than anyone as he claimed his second. Try-saving tackle but also sent to cooler. It was a disappointing end to a strong all-round effort."
#WORST PLAYER: George North
Wales Online 5/10: "Not in the game much in opening half, aside from nice pass for first Welsh score. Some decent defence after the break but saw little ball and couldn’t impose himself."
SCOTLAND:
#BEST PLAYER: Mark Bennett
#WORST PLAYER: Blair Kinghorn

- Jordie Barrett over Damian de Allende is far from being correct. The hype around Dupont is also overreaching, he's probably 4th in the world and has been since the 2023 WC. He also avoids certain matchups which is strange. The rest of the list is pretty good apart from minor subjective biases.JasonMarlow16-09-2026
