Siya Kolisi has already made one big decision about life after rugby, with the Springboks captain ruling out a move into coaching when he eventually hangs up his boots.
The 35-year-old remains a key figure in Rassie Erasmus' plans as South Africa chase a third successive Rugby World Cup title in 2027.
But while retirement is getting closer, Kolisi has no intention of following his long-time coach into the dugout.
Kolisi rules out coaching career
Speaking during a From Zwide to World Champion interview with Erasmus for Smash Sports earlier this year, Kolisi made his feelings clear.
"I will not be able to coach. No way," he said, as reported by Planet Rugby.
The two-time World Cup winner revealed that watching a Springboks match against Argentina from the coaches' box had completely changed his outlook.
He even left at half-time.
"I would be a manager maybe… I wouldn't be able to coach," he explained.
The experience gave Kolisi a new appreciation of the pressure facing Erasmus and his coaching staff.
Retirement is getting closer
Kolisi has also admitted that the end of his remarkable playing career is beginning to cross his mind.
However, the Springboks captain remains determined to continue playing while his body allows him to compete at the highest level.
His immediate ambition remains the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Having already lifted the trophy in 2019 and 2023, Kolisi could become the first men's captain to win three World Cups.
For now, there is no confirmed retirement date.
What next for Siya Kolisi?
While coaching appears to be off the table, Kolisi has plenty of interests away from rugby.
He has previously outlined his plans for life after rugby, including working with his foundation and developing business opportunities.
A management role could also appeal to him.
Kolisi has also returned to the Stormers, with the Cape Town club confirming his homecoming earlier this year.
But before retirement, there is still one enormous prize on offer.
A third World Cup.
And Kolisi isn't ready to walk away just yet.
