Over the years, England has produced some incredibly talented rugby players, many of whom have gone on to become legends of the sport.

#5. Christian Wade
Christian Wade was another player who looked destined for greatness in his early career. He made his debut for Wasps in 2011 and quickly became one of the most exciting attacking players in the Premiership, with his speed and footwork causing havoc for opposing defences.
Despite being capped by England in 2013, Wade's international career never really took off, and he eventually announced his retirement from rugby in 2018 to pursue a career in American football.
It was a surprise move, but one that perhaps highlighted the frustration he felt at not being able to fulfil his potential in rugby.
#4. Steffon Armitage
Steffon Armitage was another player who struggled to establish himself in the England set-up, despite being a dominant force in the Premiership for many years.
He made his debut for London Irish in 2006 and quickly became known as one of the most physical and aggressive back-row players in the league.
Despite his performances at club level, Armitage won just five caps for England, with his decision to move to France and play for Toulon in 2011 effectively ending his international career.
It was a shame for a player who had all the attributes to succeed at the highest level.

King was the key playmaker of the formidable Wasps team in the early 2000s. His outstanding contributions were integral to the team's success, which included an impressive hat-trick of Premiership titles and two Heineken Cups. King's exceptional ability to orchestrate the back line was crucial in many of these victories.
After his playing career, King transitioned into coaching and continued to demonstrate his expertise from the sidelines.
He has held coaching positions with several high-profile teams, including Clermont, Northampton, Montpellier, and Wales. Most recently, he has taken on a coaching role with Gloucester, where his skills and experience are sure to be of great benefit to the team.
#2. James Simpson-Daniel
James Simpson Daniel was a talented centre who played for Gloucester for over a decade.
He was widely regarded as one of the most gifted players of his generation, with his speed, agility and skill on the ball marking him out as a real prospect.
However, injury problems blighted Simpson Daniel's career, and he was never able to fully establish himself as a regular in the England squad.
He won just 10 caps for his country, despite being one of the most exciting players in the Premiership for several years.

Danny Cipriani burst onto the scene as a prodigious talent in the mid-2000s, making his debut for London Wasps at the age of just 17.
He quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young players in the country, with his pace, creativity and flair on the ball. However, off-field issues and a series of injuries derailed his career, and he never quite lived up to his early promise.
Despite winning 16 caps for England, Cipriani's international career was stop-start, and he was never able to establish himself as a regular in the squad.
His tendency to make headlines off the field, including a high-profile nightclub incident in 2019, also meant that he was never far from controversy.
