It was a tough afternoon for Quins as Adam Radwan grabbed a hat-trick, lighting up the contest alongside Ollie Hassell-Collins, who added two tries of his own. Hanro Liebenberg then crashed over for a sixth as Tigers raced clear in the second half to boost their hopes of a home semi-final.
Northmore pounces before the break
Luke Northmore offered Quins a lifeline on the stroke of half-time, sprinting in after pouncing on a loose pass from Handre Pollard.
Discipline costs Quins dear
Cameron Anderson was sent off after two mistimed tackles, the second of which left him needing treatment for a head injury and removed from the pitch on a stretcher. Things got even worse when Tyrone Green was sin-binned, reducing Quins to just 13 players.
Smith injury scare
England fly-half Marcus Smith battled on after injuring his ankle early but was visibly struggling before being taken off with 14 minutes remaining.
After the match, Danny Wilson gave an update:
“It’s his ankle. We don’t know how bad at the moment but he showed his toughness by digging in as he always does. Unfortunately it got worse and at the end he was struggling to be able to execute and will have a scan.
“It was a bit of a perfect storm, when you are struggling with injuries before the game and you go and get yellows and reds and further injuries it can lead to a scoreboard getting away from you and that is what happened today. But we can still mathematically get top four.”
