Steve Borthwick has scrapped THREE of Eddie Jones final five debutants

Borthwick demonstrated his determination by excluding veterans Billy Vunipola, Jonny May, and Jack Nowell from his initial Six Nations squad.

Although Vunipola and May were later called back, their chances of securing a spot in the final squad for the World Cup appear slim, while Nowell has decided to leave England for other pursuits.

Remarkably, three of the five debutants introduced by Jones in the previous Autumn managed to secure a place in England's official Rugby World Cup training squad.

His powerful running style and versatility caught the eye of Eddie Jones and saw him included in several England training camps towards the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign, building up to being one of two inclusions in the touring squad to Australia in July 2022. 

During the 2021/22 season, Coles took on the captain’s armband for the first time – leading the side against London Irish and Harlequins in the Premiership Rugby Cup. A successful campaign (in which Saints qualified for the Premiership play-offs) ended with Coles making 29 appearances and being named Breakthrough Player of the Season at the Club’s annual awards ceremony.

And Coles’ reward for his stellar performances would come in the form of an England call-up and three caps in the Red Rose during the 2022 Autumn Nations Series.

English-born centre Guy Porter arrived in Leicester in July 2020 from Super Rugby Champions ACT Brumbies.

Capable of playing on the wing, in the midfield or at full-back, Porter began playing rugby at Rosslyn Park before moving to Australia at seven years of age.

Ribbans reached a significant milestone while helping Saints reach the Premiership semi-finals once more in the 2021/22 season, making his 100th appearance for the Club against Wasps, during which he won the Man of the Match award. 

His reputation continued to grow in 2021/22, as Freeman scored 14 tries in just 18 appearances including a final-day hat-trick against Newcastle Falcons, before he earned his first two England caps during the Red Rose’s successful summer tour of Australia.
