RUMOUR | England powerhouse prop Beno Obano set to move…

Exeter Chiefs are interested in signing Bath and England powerhouse prop Beno Obano when his contract expires in 2021.

The loosehead-prop, who is the cousin of Maro Itoje, is apparently top of Rob Baxter’s shopping list for the 2021/22 Premiership season.

Saracens are also reportedly taking a keen interest and are thought to be monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation.

Beno’s infectious personality shines through in his new Prime Video documentary as he delves into the backgrounds of BAME players within rugby union, including his close friends Maro Itoje, Anthony Watson, Ellis Genge and Biyi Alo.

In the documentary the group discuss the perceptions of race and class within the sport, as well as how rugby union could and should be open to everyone in what is a frank, honest and touching analysis of the game that they enjoy.

I think rugby has traditionally been a sport played and watched by middle-class white people. But, I’ve been able to benefit in so many ways from rugby and I obviously don’t fit that description,” said Obano, Bath Rugby Union Player and creator of Everybody’s Game 

“With this documentary I want to change the perception of rugby and expose it to more people by telling the stories of non-traditional rugby players in the hope that those spectating and participating in rugby.”

The centre is thought to be out of contract in 2021 after last extending his deal at the Rec in 2019. Joseph, who joined the club in 2013 from London Irish, has 51 caps for his country while he also toured New Zealand with the Lions in 2017. There was a whisper that he could rejoin the Exiles, but that is just speculation at this point.
