Two Premiership clubs place their players back on furlough

Following the end of their respective campaigns, Gloucester and Leicester Tigers have put their players back on furlough.

The pair of clubs, who are continuing to feel the financial effects left by the Covid-19 pandemic, will take advantage of the scheme that comes to an end at the end of the month.

Internationals like George Ford will not be eligible for furlough scheme

The clubs’ international players, however, will not be eligible for the scheme if they feature during the end of the Six Nations and the upcoming Autumn Nations Cup.

The RFU remains hopeful of receiving a multi-million-pound Government bailout but the latest measures offer some short-term relief.
