URC: Ospreys 17 - 42 Glasgow - Jamie Dobie stars as Warriors hit six tries in Bridgend

The Ospreys were lively early and looked set to get the first points of the game when Andrea Piardi awarded them a penalty try but the TMO intervened and denied the home side who were penalised for crossing, much to the disappointment of the home fans.

And it was Glasgow who would open the scoring a few minutes later through Jamie Dobie, the scrum half spotted a gap in the Ospreys defence and dived over from a metre out. Only for his opposite number, Reuben Morgan-Williams to score in similar fashion almost immediately to level the scores.

Tries were flying in the early stages as Glasgow punished the Ospreys for failing to deal with the restart. Kyle Steyn was left unmarked on his wing and had a walk in. Hastings nailed the sideline conversion.

The Ospreys were down to 14 when Dewi Lake was penalised for a high tackle. A man short, they defended valiantly and held off the Glasgow attack but as they returned to 15, a powerful Glasgow maul went over for an important try just before half time.

The Ospreys reduced the deficit early in the second half as Luke Morgan evaded a last-ditch tackle to dive over in the corner. But Glasgow got the important fourth try. Once again through a Jamie Dobie snipe, the nine had a brilliant game.

Glasgow’s fifth of the night came from Euan Ferrie. Glasgow were beginning to take control of the affair and after a few carries in the 22, the Warriors exploited the space on the wing to extend their lead.

Glasgow ensured the win was there’s late on as Macenzie Duncan went over after an unstoppable driving maul. Dan Lancaster slotted the conversion to make it a perfect six out of six for the Glasgow kickers.

The lively scrum half was at the heart of everything for Glasgow’s in the first half. His quick snipe opened the scoring early on and carried on being a threat throughout the half. And his form continued in the second half, another snipe from the 22 saw him in untouched to claim his second try.

Had a solid first half. Clearing kicks were great and was perfect from the tee. Had a quieter second half when his team was under pressure, however.

Finn Russell will most probably be Scotland’s starting 10 this Autumn but Adam Hastings showed why he is still capable of wearing the 10 shirt on gameday. Faultless from the tee and his cute kicks gave his side strong attacking opportunities.

The captain had another strong game. Finished off a lovely try in which he started with a clever kick. Darcy Graham had another fantastic appearance for Edinburgh last night, but Steyn showed he’s dangerous enough to start.

Everyone knows how class Tuipulotu is. Test starter for the Lions down under and tonight, he showed why he is considered one of the best centres on the planet. Big fixtures coming up for Scotland and Tuipulotu is on fine form heading into the international break.

The Warriors looked impressive on Saturday recording six tries to comfortably beat the Ospreys. Three wins from their opening four games see them sit in the Top 4. A solid outfit all round despite missing key players like Huw Jones. The 2024 URC winners look capable of adding another title to the cabinet

Aside from Cardiff who have started the season strongly, three of the four Welsh regions sit in the bottom quarter of the table with 1 win between them. Troubling times with but the international break is coming up and anything can happen after that.

They managed to keep a clean sheet in their victory of Zebre last week – 24-0. However, 53 points shipped against the Bulls, 26 against the Stormers and 42 tonight, 121 points in three games is not a good look

The home side looked rapid in the early stages of the game. Quick ruck and penalties suddenly saw them 5m out from the Glasgow try line. It seemed at first that Kyle Rowe’s infringements would prevent a certain try, a decision that resulted in Andrea Piardi dishing out a yellow card, but the TMO showed that there was an obstruction resulting in the rescindment of the yellow and of the penalty try. Moments later, Glasgow opened the scoring.

One more fixture before the Quilter Nations Series 2025 but already, a few Glasgow players have shown why they deserve to start for Scotland. Most noticeably, scrum half Jamie Dobie, player of the match had a fantastic game. Two tries scored through quick snipes. A potential link up with Finn Russell would be very dangerous.
