Welsh youngster Macs Page could see his international future thrown into doubt after being left out of Wales' squad for the upcoming Nations Championship.
Head coach Steve Tandy has named a 39-player squad for the campaign, with several notable omissions.
Following three away fixtures against Fiji, Argentina and South Africa in July, Wales will return to action in November for three consecutive home matches at the Principality Stadium.
Japan, New Zealand and Australia will provide the opposition across rounds four to six.
Scarlets centre Page is among the most eye-catching absentees. RUCK previously reported that the former Wales U21 international had received an offer to join Munster.
There has been no further update on the progress of those discussions.
However, his omission from the Wales squad could increase the appeal of a move to the Irish province, where he would have the opportunity to impress Ireland head coach Andy Farrell.
The 21-year-old is qualified to represent Ireland, making him a potentially attractive option for Munster. Given his considerable talent, Ireland could look to tempt the youngster away from their Six Nations rivals.
A move across the Irish Sea could potentially open the door to greater international opportunities if Page eventually decided to switch allegiance from Wales.
Munster’s plans at centre could also be influenced by the future of Alex Nankivell, with the New Zealand-born midfielder signing a two-year contract extension to remain at the province until 2029.
The 29-year-old has made 58 appearances since joining from the Chiefs in 2023 and will become eligible to represent Ireland in October 2028.
His new deal adds further competition in the midfield as Munster weigh up their options, and may complicate the move to sign Page.
His omission comes despite an impressive start to the season, with the centre scoring four tries in four appearances for the Scarlets.
A Pembrokeshire product, Page spent part of his youth on the books of Swansea City Football Club before committing to a career in rugby.
The talented back is renowned for his sharp running, attacking flair and ability to produce moments of magic.
He won the Scarlets' try of the season award for a spectacular effort against Zebre during the 2024-25 campaign.
Although primarily a centre, Page has started on the wing in all four of his Scarlets appearances this season. His latest outing saw him score twice against Newcastle Red Bulls at the weekend.
Further updates on Page’s future could emerge, but Ireland may now be an option for the talented youngster.
