We take at five players who flopped during the opening round of the 2022 Guinness Six Nations, including two disappointing England stars.

#1. Josh Adams (Wales)

Wales Online 4/10: "Is he a Test-class centre? As Amy Winehouse might have said…no, no, no. Ireland targeted him and the Cardiff wing didn’t seem to know how to respond. Some ground made in attack, but the defensive disciplines of his new role need to be brushed up on. Yellow card put tin hat on day of woe. Adams never hid, but Pivac should consider him as a wing. End of."
Rugby Pass 2/10: "Pivac thrust Adams into a role which does not suit his strengths. Through no fault of his own, Adams really struggled to adapt to his positional switch. Was lucky to cop a yellow card."

#2. Luke Cowan-Dickie (England)

Rugby Pass: 5/10 "Kicked possession away in the Scotland 22 following a turnover with plenty of space outside him. Was then at the centre of a match-turning moment when exposed under a cross-field kick pass and yellow carded for deliberately knocking the ball into touch in an incident which also cost England a penalty try."

#3. Dan Biggar (Wales)

Rugby Pass 2/10: "Wales’ new captain had a fairly anonymous first half and was outplayed by his peer Sexton in the second. Jaco Peyper lasted the whole game without wearing ear defenders, which is definitely a plus point."
Wales Online 5/10: "A couple of slide-rule restarts early doors and one lovely kick that lifted pressure on Wales. Tried to galvanise players during his first game as captain, but it was an impossible task and he had no platform."

#4. Joe Marchant (England)

Telegraph: "Stood up by Graham for Scotland's first try and was horribly exposed by his opposite number. A defensive performance he'll want to forget"

#5. Louis Rees-Zammit

Wales Online: "Not at the races after hurting an ankle during the warm-up. Inauspicious start saw him shrugged off by Mack Hansen in early seconds. No attacking chances and also threw two forward passes. He’s better than this."
