This follows the latest injury blow for Australia, that saw Jordan Petaia's hopes of a return to the gold jersey dashed with a reported ankle injury.
Rugby 365 reported that the former NFL hopeful, who made his rugby return in 2025 with French side Perpignan, was seen sporting a 'moon boot' used to rehab such injuries.
Petaia was also witnessed to be boarding a separate flight to Brisbane the day after the Bledisloe Cup defeat to New Zealand, whilst his Wallabies teammates departed Auckland for their return to Sydney.
The Wallabies midfield was further depleted by Len Ikitau's concussion sustained at Eden Park against the All Blacks. This has opened the door for Pritchard to join the squad, with the uncapped Brumbies man called into Les Kiss' camp to prepare for the second Bledisloe Cup clash this Saturday.
But who is the new-comer from Canberra? Here's 10 facts about Kadin Pritchard ahead of a potential Wallabies debut.
1. He was born in New Zealand to a Kiwi father.
Pritchard was born in New Zealand in 2004 [22-years-old]. He moved to Australia with his family and began his rugby journey in Brisbane, with St Peters Lutheran College.
He developed his rugby in Queensland before relocating to the ACT. After being overlooked by the Reds, he made the jump to pursue opportunities with the Brumbies.
2. He could become the first Wallaby with Ghanaian heritage to play for Australia
Should the Wallabies dream become a reality for Pritchard this weekend, the midfielder would become the first men's player with Ghanaian heritage to wear the famous gold jersey.
His mother is from the West African country and is a native Twi speaker. This indicates that her family heritage could be rooted in the Akan regions, predominantly central and southern parts of the country, where Twi is most widely spoken.
3. He came through the Brumbies' Elite Development Squad after the Reds let him go.
Before establishing himself in Super Rugby, Pritchard came through the Brumbies' Elite Development Squad. He also played for Gungahlin Eagles in Canberra's Premier Colts competition, gaining valuable senior club experience while working towards his professional breakthrough.
He also scored two tries in his 2025 Brumbies trial before making his debut. He announced himself during pre-season ahead of the Super Rugby campaign, with a brace in the Brumbies' 45–12 win over the Western Force at Marist College.
4. He represented Australia at the 2024 Under-20 World Championship.
Pritchard earned selection for Australia's Under-20 side in 2024, gaining international experience against some of the world's best young players. He scored his first international try in an U20 World Junior Championships Ranking match, as he crossed over in the win against Wales U20.
The tournament provided an important stepping stone towards senior rugby, exposing him to representative-level demands before his Super Rugby career gathered momentum.
5. His first senior Super Rugby appearance came 3500kms from home
Pritchard made his Super Rugby Pacific debut off the bench against the Fijian Drua in the opening round of the 2025 season. He expressed how he was 'pinching himself' at the opportunity. The debut involved a 19-minute cameo from the bench, as the Brumbies began their season with a 36-32 away triumph in Suva.
6. His younger brother is also an emerging rugby talent.
Treyvon Pritchard plays fullback for the Queensland Reds, setting up the possibility of the brothers eventually representing Australia together.
They have spoken about pushing each other to improve since childhood. The pair grew up pushing each other in rugby, and their progress through Australia's professional system raises the prospect of the brothers eventually sharing the field at the highest level.
7. The Pritchard brothers clashed in Super Rugby AUS
The brothers grew up playing one-on-one rugby in their back garden, and have since taken their sibling rivalry from their family home and onto the Super Rugby stage.
In March 2026, they faced each other in Super Rugby Pacific when Treyvon made his Reds debut against Kadin's Brumbies. Kadin even rubbed his brother's head into the ground during the match, continuing their childhood rivalry on the professional stage
8. The Pritchard brothers both turned down a lucrative rugby league opportunity.
In August 2026, Kadin and Treyvon Pritchard signed respective contract extensions with the Brumbies and Reds through to the end of 2030 [Kadin] and 2029 [Treyvon].
Their decisions followed reported interest from rugby league, including the incoming PNG [Papa New Guinea] Chiefs NRL franchise. Thus underlining Rugby Australia's determination to retain two of their most promising young stars.
9. His 2026 Super Rugby statistics are outstanding across attack and defence
Pritchard recorded 647 running metres from 88 carries, eight line breaks, 16 tackle breaks and five offloads during the 2026 Super Rugby season. He also made 91 tackles and won 12 turnovers, numbers that highlight his contribution in both attack and defence rather than simply his ball-carrying ability.
10. He is already being marked for leadership.
Brumbies head coach and Wallabies legend Stephen Larkham included Pritchard in the club's Emerging Leaders Group. Larkham praised his progress at outside centre, highlighting his defensive organisation and the balance between physicality and attacking flair.
