Bath lock David Attwood BANNED for incident looked at by the TMO

Bath lock Dave Attwood has been handed a three-week ban following a previously unseen incident against Northampton Saints.

Whilst Attwood was not reprimanded during Bath Rugby’s match against Northampton Saints, he was cited post-match for an act contrary to World Rugby Law 9.12, striking or punching, on Saturday 22 October.

He has received a three-week ban and will miss the following games:

  • 5 November v Newcastle Falcons
  • 11 November v Leicester Tigers
  • 20 November v Barbarians

In a statement, Bath said: “Speaking to Northampton Saints’ Fraser Dingwall after the match to apologise for his actions, Attwood said he is a better person than the way he acted and was very sorry for losing his cool.

“Attwood spent the night apologising to his teammates, coaches and family and is sorry to have breached his commitment to maintaining good discipline.”

Reacting to the incident, Northampton’s head of media Tim Percival wrote: ‘Taken from judgment: “The TMO has a look at the incident informally but doesn’t see any clear footage to bring it to the attention of the referee.” Staggering.’

‘Maybe when the officials miss things like this they are stood down for the same period of time,’ commented another onlooker.

A this said: ‘The ref is literally 5 yards away.’

“A posh c***” – Three players Owen Farrell cannot stand

England fly-half Owen Farrell is never afraid of sharing an opinion or two – especially when it’s about someone he doesn’t particularly like.

#1. Dave Attwood

Former England lock Attwood has opened up on the latest RugbyPass Offload about his ongoing rivalry with Owen Farrell.

He revealed: “On the pitch, I struggle a lot with Owen Farrell. We just don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things,

“He hates me with a passion. Despite my earthy roots, he thinks I am a posh c***. He hates that. I bagged rugby league once jovially. I was saying it to take the piss kind of thing, ‘a bloody sport for the peasants’. He f**kin’ hated it.”
