Bath will not block George Ford exit

  • Todd Blackadder has insisted Bath will let George Ford go if he wants to leave
  • The England number ten has a break clause in his contract which will allow him to move
  • Sale Sharks are heavy favourites to sign Ford in what would be a stunning transfer
Bath director of rugby Todd Blackadder has insisted that the club will respect George Ford’s wishes if he chooses to leave at the end of the season.

The England number ten has a break clause in his contract which will allow him to leave The Recreation Ground come the end of the current campaign, although Bath will still be entitled to compensation.

“If George makes a decision to leave at the end of the year, that will be his decision and it will be one that we will respect,” Blackadder told the Telegraph.

“Internally it is something for him and people who look after George and those decisions. I have not tried to get too deep with him, I just want him to really enjoy his rugby in the time we have left for him.

“He is really enjoying rugby. When he gets back here, he leads the team really well.

“There will be a lot of speculation around his future but we will be guided by what he wants to do and we’ll just take it as it comes.”

Sale Sharks are heavy favourites to sign Ford in what would be a stunning transfer, although a move to Sale would also take Ford closer to his family.
