'Owen Farrell to start first test for the Lions against the Wallabies'

History was made on that day in Sydney, as it was the most points scored by the Lions in a Test match. Andy Farrell's side will be looking to emulate the spirit of 2013 and get one over on Joe Schmidt's team, when the Lions and Wallabies collide in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Farrell has got his first and only chance to impress this weekend, starting on the bench against the AU NZ Invitational XV. It is a swift inclusion after only recently receiving a call-up due to Elliot Daly's injury, however we think that his first Test start may be less to do with him playing his way into a shirt, more others playing themselves out of it.

Garry Ringrose put in a great performance against Brumbies and is hotly tipped to start at 13, but the 12 shirt is well and truly up for grabs. Andy Farrell seems to want to play with a playmaking 12, which Bundee Aki especially has struggled with, while Farrell fits that bill. Given the slow start that the Lions have had to their tour so far, a bit of experience to steady the ship could be useful. It also helps that he is Andy Farrell's son, however nepotism is not the main reason that we are backing Farrell to start the first Test.

As Elliot Daly showed before he unfortunately got injured, experience counts for a lot and although he may not have been the most exciting name, his leadership and quality counted for a lot and resulted in some very strong performances. Farrell is a Test monster and despite his shaky form for Racing 92 this season, is still a top player and someone that would do well at 12. Fly-half seems to be off limits with Finn Russell and Fin Smith, so centre seems a logical place for him to bring that experience.

The Lions have had plenty of slow starts so far on the tour, and we predict that it will carry into the Test series. There have been a lot of moments in which the club sides could have capitalised on some unforced errors from the tourists and if the opposition was stronger then results could have been different.

Only a handful of Wallabies have featured due to Joe Schmidt not allowing them to be released, so they are also fresher having only played against Fiji as a warmup.

If the Lions aren't able to drastically improve in the next week, they could well be on the wrong side of the result in Brisbane. A positive for them is that when they have got going, they look unplayable and if that ends up being consistent, they could do some damage. For now though, we can't look beyond the Wallabies going up 1-0 in the series.

We think that the Lions will overturn a 1-0 deficit and end up winning the series 2-1, with wins in Melbourne and Sydney. As mentioned, although there have been a lot of slow starts so far, one thing that they all have in common on the tour is that the Lions have got the job done.

A loss in the first game would lead to an inquiry within camp and with the number of leaders in the squad, would hopefully drive performances to another level.

Most fans would like it to go to a deciding Test like in 2013, where a comfortable victory for the tourists secured the series victory. Farrell's best team still looks up for debate with just over a week until the first Test, but after they are able to analyse the first game properly, we believe that there will be a clear pecking order and that the coaching staff can come up with a squad that works well together.

There has been a distinct lack of drama in the opening few games, which leads us to believe that it is all going to come at once as soon as the Tests begin. Just like how they did against England last autumn, we think the Wallabies' first Test win is going to come from a last-minute try.

This game could be the lowest scoring of the three because both teams will be working each other out and not wanting to take too many risks. But then, a moment of individual brilliance is going to result in a winner late on.

While this is the most unlikely of the five things to happen due to how specific it is, there is something in the air that suggests that chaos could ensue to start the series off.

A bit more of a tangible prediction, but Henry Pollock keeps impressing every time he steps onto the field at whatever level he plays at. This is a player who only made his international debut at the end of the Six Nations, his rise has been immense and hugely well deserved. While some see him as even starting in the first couple of Tests, we don't think it will be quite so soon but will eventually happen.

He will almost certainly get at least a cameo in the first couple of games off the bench, because he has featured regularly in the warmup games, and we think that he will impress.

If our other predictions are anything to go by, this third game will be crucial in deciding the series and would be set up for Farrell to throw a spanner in the works and make a big selection call.

He already did that by selecting Pollock in the squad, as there are players with more experience left out, so he isn't afraid to choose the Northampton Saints man.
