Springbok titan Eben Etzebeth is staring down the barrel of a lengthy ban after being sent off for an alleged eye gouge in the dying moments of South Africa’s 73–0 demolition of Wales in Cardiff.

The Bok enforcer was shown a straight red in the 79th minute by referee Luc Ramos, who penalised the lock for making contact with the eye of Welsh forward Alex Mann. The incident triggered an immediate wave of boos inside the Principality Stadium and ignited a global storm of condemnation.
