England’s rugby team are making history at home after smashing television records in the UK after their Rugby World Cup final defeat against New Zealand.
Saturday night’s defeat against the Black Ferns was watched by 2.6 million people at its peak on ITV1, and the programme averaged 2m viewers – almost twice the number of a typical Premier League game on satellite channels Sky Sports and BT Sport.
The audience for last night’s Women’s World Cup final on ITV peaked at 2.6m. Record numbers in this country.
