Exeter Chiefs sign controversial former Leicester Tigers fly-half

Former Leicester Tigers back Tom Hardwick has been signed by a a Premiership rival as it was confirmed on Friday that Exeter Chiefs have registered him to play in the Heineken Champions Cup.

The playmaker was released by the club last year in an infamous statement that was only 45 words long.

Following a failed time in France, the 23-year-old fly-half/centre has another chance to potentially win a Premiership contract at Sandy Park.

An undoubtedly talented technician, Hardwick needs to get playing again after a stop start beginning to his professional rugby career.

Hardwick was named in the England under 20s squad for the 2018 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. He scored a try in the semi final win over South Africa, and played in the final, a 25 – 33 loss to France.
