: A series to forget for the uninspiring England captain. Outshone by his junior Marcus Smith, it will be very interesting to see if he remains in Eddie Jones plans moving forward starting with the Autumn Internationals.
We’re approaching the end of the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour, a unique and unprecedented campaign that has seen a number of breakout stars impress.
There’s still plenty to play for heading into the third test decider, and as we enter the final stages of the tour we’ve decided to ask fans to reflect on the tour so far.
Here are the best, worst and most disappointing players from the tour so far, according to a fans vote (
4,556 supporters).
THE BEST PLAYER
Maro Itoje (66% of the vote): World-class. The English lock has been in excellent form at the set-piece and he has been one of the few Lions forwards to have consistent success clearing out and living with the physicality that the South African players have brought.
THE MOST DISAPPOINTING
Louis Rees-Zammit (44% of the vote): Regarded among the best young wingers in the world ever since his meteoric rise at Gloucester, Rees-Zammit failed to live up to the reputation and didn't feature in any of the test matches. Probably left out due to his size, which is so disappointing considering his electric pace.
THE WORST PLAYER
Owen Farrell (66% of the vote)
