Fiji suffer World Cup set-back as wing Delaiwau ruled out for rest of tournament

Fiji have been dealt a hammer blow at the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, with winger Ilisapeci Delaiwau ruled out of the rest of the tournament. The flyer suffered a hand injury in their opening Pool C clash against Canada, with the Fijiana now confirming that Delaiwau will play no further part in the competition.

Delaiwau, who started on the right wing against the North American titans, was forced off the pitch just after half-time at Salford Community Stadium, this past Saturday. Medical assessments have since confirmed the injury will keep her sidelined for the rest of the campaign.

Delaiwau will be replaced in the squad by Fiji Drua Women's development squad player Repeka Mata, who is set to link up with the team in England shortly.
