George Ford rumoured to be on the move to Premiership rival

  • George Ford could leave Bath at the end of the season
  • Leicester Tigers are the current favourites to sign the fly-half
  • Ford had signed a new contract last December on the understanding that his father would remain in charge
England fly-half George Ford may still follow his father out of Bath with rumours he could leave the club at the end of the 2016/17 Aviva Premiership season.

The Bath Chronicle fuelled such speculation, stating that George Ford had signed a new contract last December on the understanding that his father would remain in charge. At the time we thought any such stories had been put to bed after Ford confirmed he would see out his two year deal with the Bath.

However, this does not appear to be the case, after BT Sport’s Tim Cocker told The Eggchasers Rugby Podcast that the Leicester Tigers are in fact interested in bringing the England international back to Welford Road.

Tigers fans will no doubt salivate at the thought of the 23-year-old lining up alongside Matt Toomua, Manu Tuilagi, JP Pietersen, Peter Betham and Telusa Veainu in a dangerous backline.

Indeed, the very fact that Todd Blackadder has been very complimentary toward Ford in recent weeks, naming his as his vice captain would suggest that Bath will face a tough battle to keep the fly-half at the Rec.
